| Propane is a very safe fuel. But as with any energy source, there are steps you should take to further ensure your safety. If you detect a gas leak, immediately evacuate everyone from the building and call Shipley Energy or the fire department from a neighbor's phone. |
| If you smell gas: |
- Put out any open flames.
- Do NOT create static electricity by: operating a phone, lighting matches, or operating electric switches or appliances.
- Evacuate the building immediately!
- Call 9-1-1.
- Have your system checked by a professional before you re-enter the building.

| If your pilot won't light: |
- Read your appliance operating manual before attempting to light a pilot.
- Some applicanes have a safety feature that prevent the pilot from lighting.
- When all else fails, shut off the gas and call Shipley Energy.

- Know where gas lines are located so you won't damage them when working in the yard.
- Don't store cleaning fluids, oil-soaked rags, gasoline, or other flammable liquids near a gas-burning appliance where vapors could be lighted by the pilot light.
